By utilizing air-conditioning based on large-scale rotational airflows, cold air can be carried and diffused with only a few vents in wall surfaces etc. By means of a louvered floor with directional ventilated airflow, a wide range rotating airflow develops and a uniform thermal environment can be realized in the residential area.

★Floor Ventilation with Wood Decking
Utilizing the slats (5mm) between deck members, the area below the floor serves as an air chamber, and the slats in that area of the floor serve as floor vents.

★Determining the optimum direction and velocity for the floor vent airflow
The optimum angle for slats and airflow direction for the rotating airflow were determined. A panel to adjust air volume was set up in the air chamber below the slats, and it has been possible to achieve a uniform air velocity (3m/s) for each slat.

★Air-conditioner unit and air chamber built in to floor structure
The air-conditioner was miniaturized and integrated into the building and structure design as a ductless system. And by decentralizing the air-conditioners, they can be operated or shut down individually to efficiently cater for the large area. Furthermore, special silencers have been installed to reduce noise in residential areas.
